Postives:
Gives a respectful view of the Catholic Faith and convent life as well as the good the missionaries do abroad. Shows what a novice sister goes through on her journey to becoming a nun.
Negatives:
The nun breaks her vow in the end, under obedience and with much sadness; but still, disappointing in the end. Her reasons for leaving are addressed in every major saint-work, such as St. Theresa of Avila and others, so it makes no sense why a highly educated young woman who freely and joyfully enters the convent would decide after 8 years that her failings are reasons enough to break her vows when what she is experiencing are common misgivings about oneself but not unsurmountable.
Warning: A seen in the sanitarium where the insane are kept in locked wooden bathtubs for 8 hours a day with only their heads out and steam seaping through with their insane screaming frightened my 9 year old son badly (whose a tough kid). It comes up unexpectedly.
Rating: I would rate this as PG-13 for adult themes, ages 14 and older only.
