Starring: Martina Pinto, Massimo Bonetti, Luisa Ranieri, Favio Insinna, Claudia Koll Director: Giulio Base This film
tells the inspiring and tragic story of the beloved saint of the modern
youth who died defending her purity at the hands of a knife-wielding
attacker. Actress Martina Pinto gives a luminous performance as St
Maria Goretti, revealing the strong faith, great courage, and profound
charity the young saint possessed. Beautifully filmed in Italy, this
movie captures the deep spirit of love and unity within the Goretti
family, led by Maria's outstanding parents, whose story is part of the
plights of the poor laborers of the time struggling to survive in a
swampy area rampant with malaria and poverty. Popular actor Favio
Insinna (St. John Bosco) stars as the brave local Passionist priest.
Also starring Luisa Ranieri and Massimo Bonetti as Maria's parents, and
Claudia Koll as Countess Mazzoleni. This is a powerful film and a
moving cinematic portrait of this popular young saint, from the
producers of Pope John Paul II, with a musical score by the legendary
Oscar winning film composer Ennio Morricone.
