Starring: Carmen Zapata, Ada Maris, Daniel Zacapa, Adrian Ricard Director: Brian Thomas Jones "My life is SO over!" moans 16-year-old
Jamie. Her parents have decided that the family should move to a bigger
house in a better neighborhood-and Jamie hates the idea of leaving her
friends and school.
Also quietly unhappy is Rosa,
Jamie's grandmother. The move will end her years of living in the house
where she and her now-departed husband Pedro raised their family. Rosa
must also say good-bye to her beloved garden and her role as "The
Eggplant Lady," cooking her specialty - eggplant parmigiana - for the
homeless who gather for meals in the church soup kitchen.
How Rosa and Jamie come together to
face a situation neither one can control creates a moving story. In her
own way, Rosa teaches Jamie the valuable lesson of Christ's suffering
in the Garden of Gethsemani: "When something bad happens that I can't
change or can't even understand, I just try to remember that
everything-and all of us- are part of God's plan."
The Eggplant Lady, featuring a recipe with a secret
ingredient, tears and laughter, faith and family, will inspire and
touch viewers of all ages.
